Well we all know what happened between Ice T and Soulja Boy last week. Pretty interesting, but I don't see how someone specifically like Kanye West couldn't agree with Ice T. Maybe not the whole eat a dick part but where hip hop came from. I guess lyrics are not cool anymore. Whats up with this hidden meaning shit, Kanye lost me when he compared Soulja Boy with Nas. Yea man...I stopped reading when he compared him to NaS. Kanye makes some ok beats but he does NOT know what the fuck he is talking about.
People wanna keep bringing up that the 80s was all about party music and that's what Hip Hop started on....true...until cats like Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap etc came along and CHANGED THAT!!! Stop using that stupid ass logic because it's not correct.
It's simple Hip Hop started out as party music, then we figured out how to really create all kinds of music with Hip Hop(which is what music is about, expressing humanity ALL SIDES OF IT) and since then we've peeked and gone downhill...thanks to the commercialization of Hip Hop.
Commercialization ruins everything, because it sacrifices the best parts in an attempt to make it into a conceived notion of "marketability". That's why everything is so formulaic now. For Kanye to compare some simple BULLSHIT that is nothing more than party fodder to the shit NaS was (and still is doing) is ASININE. The only similarity between those two cats is the fact that they made a lot of money off of this music.
Look I'm not against anyone's hustle, by any means succeed in this fucked up world, but when you bastardize something as unique as Hip Hop was, than you deserve to be shut the fuck up. Kanye SHUT THE FUCK UP. Soulja Boy had a right to defend himself because Ice T told him to eat a dick, but if you listen to what he is saying he has no respect for this music. It's just a tool for him. So for that he gets the FUCK YOU TOO.
Niggas need to smarten up. Shit Jay-Z set the precedent for making good music and money at the same time and no one's following. This is why we are where we are. No one has no respect for those that set the path for them. This is why unless we change we are doomed.
