Fuck Rap

Well I did manage to get a new computer. I wound up getting the computer like 3 weeks ago. Only thing bad about it so far is the internet connection can be buggy at times. But other than that I love it. Anywho, I haven't update the blog because Im really busy (school, work, and work at school) shit I hardly got time to make beats. Also I'm sick of rap. Seriously this shit is getting lame. I mean seriously rappers dissing basketball players? 50 out to get Lil Bow Wow? NYOIL bitching about Nas' song "Be A Nigger Too"? Whats wrong with the game? Especially since we are in a time of importance right now. Shit it feels like the 1960's all over again. The blatant police brutality (they let them pigs walk? wtf!) and no one is doing shit about it. These fucking musicians/rappers that we look up too are not saying shit about it. They too busy trying to go platinum or trying to so called "change the game" which is just another ploy to go platinum (I see you niggas). So right now I'm saying fuck rap (although I'm listening to Ghostface right now) or fuck rappers rather. Theres a genocide going on in Darfur but niggas not rapping about that. What happened to the issues? This felt like a good year for rap but with so much going on, it feels like just another year. I wanna get excited again, I wanna break shit, I want to feel like I'm supposed to be a better person. Now as a rapper (sort of) if someone would tell me that I would tell them "Fuck you looking at me for directions for?". But now I understand the (semi) responsiblity rappers have to the community. I'm not saying all of them should be kicking knowledge, I'm just saying I miss the golden era of rap 87-98 and we'll never get that back. I just got to face it rappers are cowards.

Guess Who's Back

I'm posting again, let me finish some homework real quick and I'll tell you guys some stories

Remember The Times Part 1

My computer is down at the moment so I'm a little sad about that some shit happened after I installed new ram. But anywho, I was deciding what to post today. Looking at the normal hip hop sites but this is my blog so it supposed to be personal.

Anywho

I stumbled (via myspace) across some old memories. I will tell you have 1.5 albums, and 1 mixtape with a group called Y.I.C. Funny thing is never put any of the shit out. Like any of it. Maybe its me but I think that alot of the material is pretty good. In particular after the first album when we were recording for the second one. Alot of the shit we were making was (and still is in some cases) ahead of alot of the shit that was out. Beats could have been mixed better but other than that I believe we did fairly well.

Which brings me to this post. This one song on the myspace page is called "Techno Bullshit" and it was basically about nothing, just spit some crazy shit. I remember exactly how the session went. My man E-Rich had did the beat and played it for me by my house, I thought it was crazy so next time I went to record I brung E-Rich and the beat. I played it for DeMar and he like it. We had no hook for the song.
Like none!
But I was thinking because E-Rich had been saying "bullsheit" all day. So I was like "Fuck it, DeMar you say this and E-Rich after that you say this". And it fucking worked. The verses were decent and great. Mine was so abstracted, E-Rich came with the Lupe Fiasco type flow (we didn't even know of Lupe then), and DeMar came with a superflossy flow.

If only I could get niggas to record like this now

Check it here though.

Album of The Week: Blu and Exile "Below The Heavens"

I heard about this cd about late last year. All the heads on Sohh.com were bragging about how great of an album this was. Usually the niggas on Sohh.com are either too much into the music to give a decent reveiw or they don't really listen enough to give a good review. With that being said, fuck "The Cool" this shit was album of the year, I really need to change my chart.
Now Exile has been around for sometime, I've heard about doing doing a beat battle at Beat Society (speaking of beat battles, I got some shit to tell you guys) and he did the infamous "Pearly Gates" song for Mobb Deep (best song on that garbage ass cd). Blu on the other hand is a rapper from Cali. Normally I wouldn't fuck with it because dudes on the West Coast don't really appeal to me and its not because they are from the west coast, its usually in the flow, choice of beats, and delivery. But I heard him rap like once and I thought he was cool, but I really didn't pay attention.
Dude is a beast! His flow is kinda like Lupe on "The Instrumental". Throughout the whole cd as I was paying attention to his words I was just like, "Wow", "Damn", and (insert "oooohhhhh shit" face), especially on the introduction "My World". Don't even get me started on Exile's beats. If you like "Pearly Gates" then pop in this cd and sit back and kick it. All of the beats are diverse (I know samples for two of them, I sampled them before) and the drums are so so crisp. Niggas always talk about how hip hop is dead. Well if you believe that shit you havent heard this shit. This shit got me more excited than sir Jay Electronica and you mofos know how excited I am about him. With that said go cop "Below The Heavens" by Blu and Exile and keep real hip hop alive or grown folks hip hop rather.
