Fuck Rap

Well I did manage to get a new computer. I wound up getting the computer like 3 weeks ago. Only thing bad about it so far is the internet connection can be buggy at times. But other than that I love it. Anywho, I haven't update the blog because Im really busy (school, work, and work at school) shit I hardly got time to make beats. Also I'm sick of rap. Seriously this shit is getting lame. I mean seriously rappers dissing basketball players? 50 out to get Lil Bow Wow? NYOIL bitching about Nas' song "Be A Nigger Too"? Whats wrong with the game? Especially since we are in a time of importance right now. Shit it feels like the 1960's all over again. The blatant police brutality (they let them pigs walk? wtf!) and no one is doing shit about it. These fucking musicians/rappers that we look up too are not saying shit about it. They too busy trying to go platinum or trying to so called "change the game" which is just another ploy to go platinum (I see you niggas). So right now I'm saying fuck rap (although I'm listening to Ghostface right now) or fuck rappers rather. Theres a genocide going on in Darfur but niggas not rapping about that. What happened to the issues? This felt like a good year for rap but with so much going on, it feels like just another year. I wanna get excited again, I wanna break shit, I want to feel like I'm supposed to be a better person. Now as a rapper (sort of) if someone would tell me that I would tell them "Fuck you looking at me for directions for?". But now I understand the (semi) responsiblity rappers have to the community. I'm not saying all of them should be kicking knowledge, I'm just saying I miss the golden era of rap 87-98 and we'll never get that back. I just got to face it rappers are cowards.

Remember The Times Part 1

My computer is down at the moment so I'm a little sad about that some shit happened after I installed new ram. But anywho, I was deciding what to post today. Looking at the normal hip hop sites but this is my blog so it supposed to be personal.

Anywho

I stumbled (via myspace) across some old memories. I will tell you have 1.5 albums, and 1 mixtape with a group called Y.I.C. Funny thing is never put any of the shit out. Like any of it. Maybe its me but I think that alot of the material is pretty good. In particular after the first album when we were recording for the second one. Alot of the shit we were making was (and still is in some cases) ahead of alot of the shit that was out. Beats could have been mixed better but other than that I believe we did fairly well.

Which brings me to this post. This one song on the myspace page is called "Techno Bullshit" and it was basically about nothing, just spit some crazy shit. I remember exactly how the session went. My man E-Rich had did the beat and played it for me by my house, I thought it was crazy so next time I went to record I brung E-Rich and the beat. I played it for DeMar and he like it. We had no hook for the song.
Like none!
But I was thinking because E-Rich had been saying "bullsheit" all day. So I was like "Fuck it, DeMar you say this and E-Rich after that you say this". And it fucking worked. The verses were decent and great. Mine was so abstracted, E-Rich came with the Lupe Fiasco type flow (we didn't even know of Lupe then), and DeMar came with a superflossy flow.

If only I could get niggas to record like this now

Check it here though.

Prodigy Stop Blogging Part 2

Self explanitory

Gangsta Grillz: 50 Cent Edition?

Well if you heard the rumours its true. Seems like the Unit is trying to go back to their old methods of work. In all honesty, I'm looking forward to this. Curtis was a weedplate and Curtis got some more work to do if he wants people to look at him the same way they used to. So I hope this mixtape is good, but what Gangsta Grillz mixtape hasn't been good? I read it here.

Can You Do This?

This track actually sounds like a guitar is really being played.

For Those That Care

Murder Mook is not signed to Bow Wow's label (thank god) but he is working with him on a mixtape (smh)

Whats The Verdict?

Well if you haven't heard about Fat Joe and Papoose's scuffle then you must be doing what I am supposed to be doing, studying or something. Now we have both sides in, both got to explain what happened. Who's telling the truth here?

Papoose will tell you that Fat Joe came to Cassidy room and asked him did he have a problem with him. Papoose asked him the same question and when Fat Joe said yes, Papoose swung on him. Papoose says he hit that chin.

Meanwhile Fat Joe sees this and pretty much gets on camera to let people know he hasn't been touched. I will say that I have seen fights were both parties come out looking like they never fought but this is enough to call Papoose's story shananagains.

The we hear Fat Joe's side of the story which pretty much repeats some of Papoose's story. Basically he asked Papoose the golden question and he responded with do you have one with me and then Fat Joe got to tapping on that ass (no homo of course). Fat Joe even goes as far as saying that he not only beat him up but talked to him and told him why he beat him up. I haven't seen Papoose's face as of lately....

So who do you believe? The Elephant in the Room or Papoose? I'm taking Flow Joe's side. Lets weigh the options, Fat Joe is well uhh fat. Papoose is slimmer than a motherfucker. Does anyone have any accounts of Fat Joe being beat up? No. Papoose? Hell yes. I could have sworn he did a 360 around the light post after getting punched.

Even though in the end this really doesn't matter only thing that matters is the music. While Papoose could rap circles around Flow Joe, his discography doesn't say so cause all dude got is mixtape material. But we all know that if it came to rapping, I'm picking Papoose. Far as this fight shit goes I'm picking Fat Joe. Maybe hip hop is getting on some WWE shit.

The Numbers Don't Lie

Damn guess who came in #2 in the Billboard charts? My favorite lady (or one of them) Ms. Erykah Badu with her album "New AmErykah". Here first album in 5 years sold 123,900 copies with little promotion proving that she still can push units. I believe its mainly because she tours and she keeps her fans interested.

50=Don King Papoose=Mike Tyson

Recently everyones favorite underground rapper been getting into scuffles, from Uncle Murder to Fat Joe, even to everyones favorite singer Max B. What do all of these situations have in common you ask? Everyones favorite trouble maker 50 Cent.
The Uncle Murder situation is really old, but 50 Cent co-signs that Pap murder him. Max B told Kay Slay suck his dick and Pap approached him right after shaking 50's hand. Still need more evidence? Papoose and Fat Joe have a scuffle and who promotes that shit? Your main man 50 Cent.

Team New AmErykah!

I don't know what to say. I will say that I am very intune with Miss Erykah. I think that she is a wonderful artist. With that said, who has listened to New AmErykah? Well I did and I'm already looking forward to the second disc coming out in June.
Basically this album is straight, straight, straight hip hop. I personally think that this is the most hip hop album to come out in the last couple of months or this year at least. She got Madlib, Sa-Ra, 9th Wonder and someone else (i forgot whom) on the boards. Personally after hearing her and Madlib I think that they should do an album together on some Liberation type shit. This album reminds me of Baduizm and Madvillian all messed together. Picture Erykah singing over shit like "Fancy Clown" or "All Caps" and thats what you get from this. I will say that if you don't buy this album you should at least hear "The Healer", "Me", "Soldier", "Master Teacher" (nice Curtis Mayfield flip), and "That Hump".

Artist of The Week: Elzhi

The first artist in my artist of the week profile will be Elzhi of Slum Village. Why? Simply cause he's fucking dope. My first introduction to Elzhi was on Little Brother's second cd, The Minstrel Show, on the song "Hiding Places". I've heard him before on "Selfish" but this was the first time I actually paid attention to his lyrics. Peep them

"Don't compare me to jokes I'll strangle the air in your throat
Like you jump from a chair and choke in mid-air from a rope
Got a big gun and carry a scope the flair of the smoke
Keep niggaz quiet like words that librarians spoke I'm arrogant,
Outlandish blow your face out, and shake out the dandruff
The jakes wont make out the handprints
I'm as real as it gets, with the steel and the clips
Bark and make niggaz duck, and kneel and do splits"

God how could you not want to hear more of this guy after that? But he has no solo album out so i had to do a lot of research and he did record a solo album in 97 but it was never released. In about 2001 he got his masters for the album and it leaked the internet. I d/l'd it and if that album was in stores I'd go get it.

I can't really explain how geninuely good this dude is with the multisymbolic flow. So you gotta be the judge for you self check him out.

Rae and Cappa freestyle

Damn they look like old men.

Beans vs Gillie?

Thats apparently whats happening. People take this street shit too far. But Gillie don't body yourself homie. Beans spits hard.

You Know Who Should Collab?

I'm gonna say The Cool Kids and The Kids In The Hall should collab. Both got pretty much the same style. People are starting to say the The Kids In The Hall are biting The Cool kids style, I don't think so. If you think about it Kids In The Hall was here before The Cool kids but thats just my take. Meanwhile, listen to the new joint from the Kids In The Hall, its there first single from there new album dropping on duck down records. Peep it here.

Oh yeah peep this video too

"I'll Have To Kill Baby Like Abortion"

This has to be the hardest sublime, I've heard in years. Damn Pusha T sounds angry.

"Sorry, i don’t respect who you applaudin
lil nigga flow, but his metaphors are borin
don’t make me turn daddy’s little girl into orphan
that means I would have to kill baby like abortion"

It doesn't get any better than this.

New G Rap Featuring Haylie Duff?

I like the record, its got an offbeat kilter flow (MF DOOM anyone?) to it. But seriously Haylie Duff, I'd hit Hilary though (Holla at me babes :)). I think this shit is a blend or something. Premier did the record btw. It sounds like a blend though. Her e it here

DMX? GOSPEL?

Well he's dropping an album, two actually. One rap and one "straight giving god the glory". I don't know what to say about this. I mean we know that he's a religious man but I kinda only want to hear "Its Dark And Hell Is Hot" DMX. Maybe I'll listen. Read it here.
